It was my great niece's first birthday party on Saturday night. At first I thought - don't eat all day and then I realized that would be a mistake. Ate cereal with skim milk for breakfast. Lunch was a big salad and a piece of chicken.
Party time. I was hoping for veggies and here is the menu.
Hot dog pieces wrapped in bacon, steamer (cooked hamburger), rolls, macaroni and cheese - real cheese the ooey gooey kind, baked beans, coleslaw (if my sister made it - it was light mayo), potato chips. Oh geez...
My head went "there is nothing you can eat here!" and I felt the macaroni calling me in.
Stop. Breathe...
I took a small spoonful of baked beans, a bigger spoonful of coleslaw (tasted light anyway)on top of some burger. 2 pieces of the of the hot dog. Went back for seconds of the beef and cole slaw. I am human after all. Stopped way before I wanted to and stayed away from the kitchen.
Time for cake.
It was a marvelous creation from a local grocery store. It had icing that was to die for. Not the sticky sweet stuff - theirs is a creamy whipped delight. White cake and white icing. I told myself there would be other birthdays and other cakes.
No one noticed me not having any because the house was crowded.
I could have said - well you blew it already - might as well have that cake.
Sunday was back to measuring every morsel again. It is getting easier.
My reward - down another pound this morning. 7 pounds total. "Only" 43 more to lose that 50!

WOW! Good for you! I don't think I would have had such will power. This is inspiring! LOL
ReplyDeleteMy issues lie with cooking for hubby and his father - and they don't always WANT diet food. This weekend I did a roast in the slowcooker and when I made them hot beef sandwiches last night, actually added at least half a cup of fresh ground flax to the mushroom gravy. They never knew the difference! LOL
Good for you about the cake, too - I LOVE the odd piece of cake, but one always leads to two...leads to.... LOL
Good start, Kathy - good for you!
Sometimes I hate google blogging. Had a long reply and copied it when I had to enter my profile. It went into outer space...
ReplyDeleteYou give me too much credit for having willpower. I blame it on the blog. It would be stupid to completely blow the diet and then need to confess. Let's hope that helps through the holidays.
I have a hubby to cook for too. What a pain sometimes. Mine gets tired of chicken and that is meat I can eat a lot of. I am the Bubba Gump of chicken cooking. Cajun, lemon pepper, garlic pepper, OLd Bay are favorite spices of mine.
I bet your hubby's and FIL's colons thanked you this weekend lol.
Thanks for replying - it means a lot to see you here. Kathy

ReplyDeleteLOL - you are way too hard on yourself! Each day is a new day - but at the same time - baby steps are OK. Give yourself permission to be human, but guided too. You have a goal and that's the best start. You don't make it to the top floor of a building with no elevator without a step at a time. Bubba Gump indeed! You nut.
