Fill up that tummy - have some "free" foods.

I had cereal for breakfast this morning. About 3 hours later my stomach started playing a tune.
Protein time.
I sliced and stir "fried" some baby portabella mushrooms and took out the cheaper version of egg beaters and added 3/4 cup. Made a nice cheeseless omelet. My little voice did tell me a little cheese wouldn't hurt. I resisted.
Cereal was 190 calories, egg was 90 and the mushrooms are on my "free" list. 1 T of Light Mayo was 20 so my total for the day so far is 300.

My free list (that I will eat) includes mushrooms, lettuce, cabbage, brocolli, peppers, spinach, green beans, carrots added to salad greens, cauliflower, celery, squash, cukes. Prep is important. Keep it light.

Watch those dressings and toppings.
Some light dressings are not light at all and you will be suprised how far 2 tablespoons will go tossed into a salad. Toppings can add a ton of calories. Croutons, cheese, seeds and nuts, raisins are good in moderation (but not all at the same time!)

I ate so much brocolli at a Chinese buffet the other dayit's a wonder my ears didn't go green.

Try some of the free veggies you think you don't like. Tastes change and you might be suprised what you will eat now.

I doubt I ever like raw tomatoes, raw onions, cooked brussel sprouts or asparagus. If you would have told me when I was younger I would be eating all of the veggies that are on my list I would have said "no way!"

Try 'em. They will help you get skinny.

2 pounds down this week. 6 total.

  1. Wahoo! two pounds sounds like nothing to some people, but when you've made up your mind to try, it's baby steps that count! Good for you. I started tracking my weight on an excel spreadsheet just so I could "graph" it. How anal is that! I find my attitude is everything and I give myself permission to wallow in self-pity every now and then, and allow the stuff that I just HAVE TO HAVE a taste of. Savour it slowly, then put it away. I am way too guilty of setting myself up to fail, so I flipped that coin and said "set myself up to succeed"

You go girl!! Have a great weekend.

  2. Oh 2 pounds are fine with me.
I hate the weeks there are no pounds or worse a gain where there shouldn't be.
My weekend went fine - thank you!
Graphing weight loss - awesome! I hate those self pity moments and they happen. Dieting brings all the bad moods right to the top sometimes.
If anyone reading knows how to see when someone replies - let me know. I miss replies sometimes. Glad to hear from you CC!
