The more they preach, the harder thay fall.
I fell.
Christmas was a lot of fun and a lot of food. Even the neighbor's conspired against me and put a rice crispy log on the porch.
It looked like a jelly roll only the jelly was chocolate. It hit here and hubby saw it first. What is that?? He thought it was a roll of venison until he got closer and saw this glowing wonder on the porch.
You ever watch Survivorman?? Imagine how he eats when he gets home. That is how we inhaled that log. I think it took two days just because we ran out of daylight and go to bed early. Hubby paid for it though - his crown on his tooth came loose and he found out the root is cracked so he needs to go for a ka-ching - implant.
We did not have a traditional family dinner for Christmas, but got together Christmas night. I ate well, but was well aware of what and how much I ate and when to stop.
New Years was pork and sauerkraut (I live in PA) and since family was scattered, I cooked and delivered some to mom.
Then if things weren't bad enough, I went after Christmas shopping and picked up the cold from someone who should have stayed in bed and sent the neighbor.
I got so sick of being sick and craved chili, so I used the hand sanitizer, held my breath and went into a little local market and bought everything I needed. Boy that was good.
Weighed in on the 8th and was relieved to "only" be up 3 1/2 pounds.
Happy to say that extra will be gone by weigh-in Friday if I keep focused.
My Banjo goes to the trainer so I want to be lighter for him. Pretty bad when you were 16 - ok maybe 18 clothes and are worried more about the horse.
I might just type 2 posts today! Had a hilarious morning with Wii - The Biggest Loser.
Stay posted...

Is anybody reading??
Oh well. I write on.
Guess I need to add some sex and violence.
HA!
Had an interesting trip to the barn today. It took longer to get dressed than it took to feed the horses.
My selection of waterproof hats is limited. Hubby forgot his waterproof Tilley hat at his brother's place. It's a marvelous hat that he paid $60 for many years ago in Canada. It sheds water like a seal's back. You can even register them so that if it quits working - they replace it for life. It is a good testament to buying quality stuff - if only it would find it's way home.
I was glad to find a plastic hooded yellow rain suit in the closet - must have been a yard sale find. I skipped the pants.
Have a tee shirt on, a sweatshirt over that and this yellow jacket stretched over that. Nice and toasty. Heavy sweats on the bottom half. Usually I would add cotton long johns but it wasn't cold enough.
Wool socks - check. Now what footwear? Normally I wear sneakers or solid Crocs but the mud will be high today after last night's rain and snow. Remembered the rubber boots on the yard tool holder on the back porch. They were a weird Christmas gift from hubby before I had horses.
Perfect.
Grabbed the boots and one of them had water inside. Both were covered with dried mud. Pulled out the insoles and washed them and made sure all the leaves and spider webs were out. Put the insoles in the dryer, trying not to think of the electric bill.
Washed the boots in the kitchen sink and dried them with a hair dryer. Put them on and my bottom half looked like I was going to war with the black boots and the pants scritched up. Finally ready. The rain had stopped for a minute so I skipped the yellow hood in favor of an blue Orvis cap I bought at a yard sale for 25 cents. It has ear flaps and a brim and is thinsulate lined.
If would have wrecked, it would have taken paramedics 2 hours to find out there was a woman under all those clothes.
It was worth it to hear the horses crunching their hay in the barn. I always hang around to make sure the black mare does not kill the wussy 17 hand Mighty. My gosh I can drive her away - what's with him? The old black mare freaked when she saw the yellow rain coat. Maybe she has some bad memories.
uuuurrrrrrch - Wait, this is a diet blog.
My diet has been going OK but I feel like I am eating too much. Making lots of soups that are low cal, but it feels like I should be eating less. I guess Friday's weigh-in will tell the tale.
The final show for this season's Biggest Loser was on last night. The 2 finalists men had lost more than I weigh - each. The winner was interviewed later and said he thought when he went to the ranch (some ranch!), he told someone they would do short workouts. First time he was on the treadmill was 80 minutes!
Well time to get things done. Making some gifts so better get working on them.
The day will be gone before I know it.

The Today Show
I really like seeing Joy Bauer on the Today show.
She often has people who have lost a lot of weight - usually over 100 pounds.
Today she is having a question and answer session.
http://www.joybauer.com/life-diet/free-diet-profile.aspx?promo=4EBC08CF-FFC2-45B8-ADF6-56CAA252508E&np=1&gclid=CIuyo8PHxJ4CFY915Qodlg0OpQ
This is her own site. You can also find her on the Today Show site and read the Fit Club losers success. The link wouldn't copy.
We had snow on Saturday and it will melt today. The sun is coming in the window and my mood goes up as it warms me sitting here.
I made a good - if you like cabbage - recipe yesterday.
You will need..
1 head of cabbage, shredded and steamed until tender
2 cups cooked rice
2 small cans of tomato soup (or if your cabbage is large - 3)
1 can diced tomatoes
1 pound ground meat - something lean
1 onion - chopped
seasoning to taste
Parmesan cheese (I used powdered) for topping
Brown the ground meat with the chopped onion, drain, stir in diced tomatoes and cook slightly. Season to taste.
Place the steamed cabbage in a crockpot
Add the ground meat mixture, add the cooked rice.
Dump tomato soup on the top. Cut down through the layers so the soup goes down through the mix.
Cook as long as needed in the crockpot. The longer it cooks on low, the better it tastes!
The recipe called for water to be added, but the canned tomatoes added moisture. Just keep an eye on it. You could also add a little skim milk for a creamier taste.
Ladle into bowl and top with a little parmesan cheese for flavor.
Enjoy!
Weight is down a little more this morning and the extra Thanksgiving extra pounds are history.
11.5 pounds gone.
Shooting for 15 by Christmas (if it doesn't happen - that's OK too). One thing I've learned about weight - it leaves on it's own good time.
Merry Merry!

I Yam HUNGRY
OK I blew it. I ate like a normal person for 3 days after Thanksgiving. The result - up 2.5 pounds! All but 12 0unces (3/4 pound) of it are back off. Most of it was stress related eating and it included a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter (the bottom of the jar, thank God or it might have been 5 pounds).
Something insane happens when you walk in a bathroom of your summer trailer and see a puddle on the floor and a moldy ceiling. And then your hubby spends most of one day spraying the hose on the roof and trying to find the leak. He got most of it - but drips were still happening. I am hoping the next time we go down - we won't find any more leaks. The winds hit 70MPH and the rains went sideways so no wonder it leaked. I just hope it is over with.
Anyway I am back on track with this diet again. I still have a 10 1/4 pound loss since Nov. 3rd.
Food - it's all about the food.
Yams or sweet potatoes?
There was a time when I would not have eaten them - no way, no how. About 5 years ago I tasted a baked sweet potato at a Hosses restaurant. Not the marshmallow syrup concoction that comes out during the holidays, just a plain old potato with a little butter. It was good.
I bought some over the weekend and baked them in the toaster oven. Hubster was not happy. He said "you know how you don't like raw tomatoes and never will? Well I don't like sweet potatoes."
Ahh...but I have a secret to making sweet potatoes better - sugar free apricot jelly. 10 calories per tablespoon. Try them.
About those raw tomatoes. I am trying to like them. They are bitter. I don't like raw onions either, but no longer spit them out when I get one in a salad so I guess that is an improvement. My mother eats green onion and butter sandwiches. Makes me swoon.
I can't eat oatmeal although I have tried. My throat closes up and I don't want hubby to come in and find me dead with clogged oatmeal dribbling out of my mouth. Pick your battles.
He has oatmeal almost every morning. I like oatmeal cookies so it is just the consistancy of the cooked goop that gets me.
Mom eats oatmeal and hominy. I vaguely remember eating Cream of Wheat until I grew old enough to complain about it. Goop in a pot and I will never eat it again until someone spoons it into me at the nursing home.
Weird topic today...
Try a sweet potato with apricot jam or jelly. It might suprise you.
Kathy (who also eats and likes brocolli, cauliflower, squash and other veggies I would have never tasted many years ago).
Good for me!

Use a small plate and paint your kitchen blue
Those tips were on the Today show the other day. Blue is supposed to reduce you appetite. Hmmmm.
Where can I buy a blue tablecloth??
I can't imagine a blue kitchen...although my nephew has a dark grey one and it looks nice.
If you want to know colors that stimulate your appetite - check out the colors at your local fast food places.

Deep breath. The big bird day is coming to PA
Already my weak little mind says to me - you are going to blow it Thursday. Mmmmmm, wouldn't you like a candy bar?? Of course I would. To be specific - a peppermint patty. Or a bag of the little peppermint patties. Bliss.
I have come too far this month to start buying junk food. Have even resisted tiny tootsie rolls put out for all at the office building I clean. One taste would be off the diet and make me crave more.
The only sweet I am allowing myself is a popsickle in the evening. I like fudgsickles the best but this week it is vanilla ones with a chocolate shell. the sweet craving is paused because I know that at the end of the day, I can have that popsickle or a McDonald's sundae or cone if we are out.
I am taking a big shrimp and beef strip stir fry to our Thanksgiving stuffing go round at mom's house. It is a switch from the green bean casserole that has over 200 calories in a cup. The rest of the menu is fattening all but the turkey. I plan on having a little bit of everything, but the stir fry will take up most of my plate. Even hubby said - why don't you take a salad to your mom's? He liked the stir fry idea too. Get something green on the plate!
11 pounds down this month. Next month I'll be happy with 4 more plus what I gain Thursday. Gobblegobble!!
Does this braid make me look fat?

Whoohoo!
10 pounds gone this month. I almost fell off the scale this morning.
Of course there will be feasting Thursday so some of that will return.
I am taking a veggie platter or green bean dish. something light so that I can have a big pile on my plate.
Yesterday I was too busy for breakfast so I ended up with a huge bowl of spicy black bean, turkey sausage for lunch and popsickle to cool my throat down.
Supper was 1/4 a medium size thin crust pizza and some raw cauliflower. It was a tasty day and I didn't expect to drop any weight after that. I did!
Today will be a little more healthy though.
